The Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Endocrine Surgery, Transplantation of Endocrine Organs and Tissues of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (hereinafter - the Center) is the main institution of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine that provides highly specialized medical care to the population of Ukraine in the field of endocrinology, endocrine surgery, malignant neoplasms of the endocrine glands, its complications and existing concomitant pathology. The center carries out scientific, medical and educational activities.
The center is a scientific-practical institution with highly qualified and experienced personnel, ready to develop and implement new methods in the area of providing medical care to the children of Ukraine with endocrine diseases and their complications.

The department of pediatric endocrinology
was the first in Ukraine to introduce specific genetic diagnosis of endocrine diseases in children, which in some cases changed the diagnosis and treatment tactics. Thanks to the cooperation with the world's leading genetic clinics, the children's endocrinology department is the only one in Ukraine to conduct free genetic testing of children with : congenital hyperinsulinism, Neonatal diabetes and maturity onsetdiabetes of the young( MODY), Various forms of sexual dysfunction.
At the Center, outpatient and inpatient medical care is provided to children.
Annually, pediatric endocrinologists consult 1,800-2,600 children at the OPD, of which 1,100-2,100 are primary patients.
In addition, the Center provides inpatient care for children, performs surgical operations, as a rule, these are complex clinical cases, including malignant neoplasms.

The number of laboratory tests performed for the pediatric section of the center reaches tens of thousands, instrumental tests, including ultrasound examinations - 4,600-6,200.
The leading pathologies among the patients in the pediatric section at our hospital is diabetes mellitus, pathology of the thyroid gland (every second operation on the thyroid gland for cancer), including malignant neoplasms, disorders of puberty and benign tumors of the adrenal glands, etc. Instrumental and laboratory diagnostics of children is performed by the various diagnostic departments of our institution. However, the renewal of old and outdated equipment and purchase of new equipment at the center is a matter of concern, as some of the equipment, has been in use for more than 12-14 years and often breaks. Currently, the urgent need for the Center is the purchase of the following medical equipment

** outdated and often is out of order
Pump insulin therapy is one of the priority segments for the treatment of diabetes in children and is considered the best way to administer insulin in youngchildren (up to 7 years), Insulin therapy with insulin pumps helps manage the child's eating behavior, helps to reduce episodes of hypoglycemia, and reduces the development of chronic complications of diabetes (compared to children who use a standard regimen of multiple daily insulin injections).
The number of preschool children who are eligible as patients for treatment with insulin pumps in Ukraine is about 1,000 patients (the annual cost of treatment is about 7,800 euros - the first year (cost of the pump and the cost of consumables), and 3,600 euros - for each subsequent year).
This is a rather expensive treatment option, but it is proven that it can save more than one life. Any help for such patients is extremely important.

The leading pathology among patients of the Children's Age Center includes diabetes mellitus, thyroid gland pathology, including malignant neoplasms (every second operation on the thyroid gland is due to cancer), disorders of sexual maturation, less frequently benign tumors of the adrenal glands, and so on.
Instrumental and laboratory diagnostics in children within the conditions of the Center are provided by diagnostic units. However, an urgent issue is the update of the Center's material and technical base – the acquisition of necessary medical equipment and the renewal of outdated equipment that has been in use for over 12-14 years and often malfunctions.
